SaskPower’s Logistics Warehouse Complex

The SaskPower Logistics Complex will consist of multiple warehouses, offices, pole yards, secure storage and decontamination buildings located on 125 acres of land. The new facilities will house employees currently working at five different locations to help establish operating efficiencies.

ICE District - Tower E (Stantec Tower)

Location: Edmonton, AB
Completion: 2019

The Stantec Tower is a mixed-use skyscraper located at the heart of Edmonton’s ICE District. This architecturally stunning tower stands 251 meters (823 feet) high and is the tallest building in Canada outside of Toronto. It was granted LEED Gold Certification and received the Award of Excellence from the Consulting Engineers of Alberta in 2020.

Brookfield Place

Location: Calgary, AB
Completion: 2017

Brookfield Place consists of a 1.4 million square feet, 56-storey tower which is 247 meters tall, making it Calgary’s tallest building.

The building was constructed to LEED Gold standards for core and shell and was completed in August 2017. A half-acre public plaza, electric car recharge stations and energy conservation systems all contributed to the novelty of the building’s design.

Kelly Ramsay Tower (Now Enbridge Centre)

Location: Edmonton, AB
Completion: 2016

WEM was hired by Ledcor Construction to complete the electrical contracting component of a substantial tear down of existing Kelly Ramsay buildings in Edmonton, reconstruction from ground up. As the electrical contractor of choice, WEM supplied and installed the lighting, lighting controls, distribution, fire alarm, security and emergency generators systems to the new build.

Calgary City Centre

Calgary City Centre office tower is a 36 storey class AAA building equipped with many state-of-the-art features including five stories of occupancy sensor lighting controlled underground parking, eight high-speed elevators, a sophisticated security system and sustainable energy sources.

Mosaic Tower at Hill Centre III

Location: Regina, SK
Completion: 2013

The Mosiac Tower at Hill Centre III is an architecturally stunning building that aligns perfectly with the symmetry of its neighboring buildings. It stands 18 stories high, has 240,000 square feet of office/retail space, and features a sprawling 1,300 square foot conference centre, a 3,000 square foot rooftop patio and a public atrium with rotating art exhibits.

Cenovus Energy – Tenant Fit up in Brookfield Place

Location: Calgary, AB
Completion: 2020

Cenovus’s offices occupy the upper floors of Brookfield Place, which is the tallest building in Calgary at 247 meters high. WEM was contracted by Ellis Don Construction to supply and install the electrical and telecommunication components of the tenant fitout for Cenovus, following the completion of Brookfield Place’s shell. This expansive fit-out required the development of 25-floors of interior office space. Cenovus’s state-of-the-art offices extended from the 32nd floor to the top 56th floor of the East Tower.

Encana & Cenovus - Tenant Fit up in Bow Tower

WEM completed the electrical work for the base building and the tenant fit-outs for both Encana Corporation and Cenovus Energy. As the electrical contractor for these projects, WEM was responsible for providing the distribution, emergency responders DAS, lightning protection, wireless lighting control system, security, fire alarm, emergency power, sound masking, telecommunications and temporary power systems.

Deerfoot City

Completion: 2019

Deerfoot City is 1.1 million square foot open-air style shopping complex spanning 80 acres with over a 150 shops, services, and restaurants. The shopping complex consists of a Food Lodge area as a central place offering many options to eat at, a Style District made up of many shops and services, a Restaurant Campus that offers everything from fine dining to casual eating and a Central Plaza which is a great area to socialize.

Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) EDMHL Redevelopment

The PLC EDMHL Redevelopment Project is a comprehensive healthcare initiative involving several critical areas. The project entailed the relocation of MDRD, the establishment of a 6th Floor Rapid Response Lab, Mental Health Short Stay facilities, Emergency Department Expansion Phase 1, Minor Surgeries, Women’s Health, Bronchoscopy units, E-Simulation areas, and a Psychiatric Hi Observation Unit.

Regina Humane Society - Animal Community Centre

The newly built Regina Humane Society will serve the Regina area and will offer new services including a 24hr veterinary clinic, stations for dog washing, adoption gallery and gift shop.

BMO Centre Expansion - Calgary Stampede

Location: Calgary, AB
Completion: 2024

The BMO Centre Expansion will become Western Canada’s largest conference facility. Our team will be integral to the successful completion of this project, providing a full suite of services that includes medium voltage distribution, convention floor boxes, cable tray, low voltage distribution, high-end lighting, lighting control, standalone emergency system, lightning protection, communication systems, security systems, fire alarm, site works, and heat trace.

Regina’s Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre consists of the renovation and major additions to one of Regina’s historic buildings in the heart of downtown. The Globe Theatre once complete will be one of Canada’s most predominate theaters of the round.

Sam Centre - Calgary Stampede

Location: Calgary, AB
Completion: 2023

The Sam Centre project is a 30,000 sq.ft. exhibit space designed to offer immersive experiences and exhibits. The facility includes two galleries, a multi-sensory digital experience, retail and dining areas, public access to the Stampede Collections workshop and a secure artifact vault and with quarantine area.

Mathison Hall – University of Calgary

Location: Calgary, AB
Completion: 2022

Western Electrical Management was engaged by EllisDon as the electrical contractor to develop a space for the Haskyane School of Business at the University of Calgary. This two-phase project required upgrades to Scurfield Hall (Phase I) and the construction of Mathison Hall (Phase II). During Phase I, WEM upgraded the electrical systems in Scurfield Hall by replacing the fire alarm system and reworking the main electrical system.

BMO Centre Expansion – Enabling Works

Completion: 2021

WEM provided electrical and communications contracting services in preparation for the construction of the BMO Convention Centre Expansion located at the Stampede Park in Calgary. WEM’s responsibilities encompassed managing several Enabling Works projects, including the installation of fiber optic cables, the completion of a substation upgrade, the completion of Phases 1A/1B/1C and 2, and the demolition and relocation of the BMO Data Centre.

Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge

Location: Calgary, AB
Completion: 2017

The Rocky Ridge Recreational Facility is a 23,330 m² complex located in Calgary’s northwest. It was completed in December 2017 and has since received over five engineering and design awards. A competition pool, a leisure pool, two ice rinks, a library, theatre and three full size gymnasiums are some its many recreational amenities.

Saskatoon Police Services - Headquarters Building

Location: Saskatoon, SK
Completion: 2015

The City of Saskatoon’s objective for this iconic project was to develop a progressive facility that consolidated the original Saskatoon Police Services Headquarters and nine satellite offices into one centralized location. WEM was selected by Ellis-Don to provide electrical contracting services during both the pre-construction and construction phases. In the ‘design-build’ capacity, WEM provided input on the building’s distribution, emergency and security systems.
